The cold weather is here and so is flu season, you have to be careful while sickness is circling around during the winter season. Prevention starts with promoting proper hygiene, this helps to stop the spread of germs who cause the flu and other illnesses.

The problem with the flu spreading is the symptoms it may cause when you are infected and how easily it spreads. Symptoms vary depending on the level of health a person may have before contracting, getting good sleep and eating right way help increase your chances of beating the flu or some of the symptoms.

Symptoms of the flu may include nausea, fatigue, fever, sore throat, nasal congestion, and headaches. The flu, or influenza, is an infectious respiratory illness, these symptoms are uncomfortable and painful.

When it comes to window cleaning, you are going in and out of homes or businesses. Coming in contact with people may lead to you getting or giving viruses. Some clients such as the elderly, pregnant or those with children may be more susceptible to viruses. Being careful to not give or receive a virus may help with a few steps.

    1. Maintain your health- Make sure you are showing up each day ready for the day. Each night gets the recommended amount of sleep for your age. Eat a good breakfast and bring healthy lunch and snacks for on the job. Drink enough water in the morning and throughout the day. Dress warm, this can help you from picking up a virus. Throughout the day make sure to wash and disinfect when appropriate, wash your hards when possible.
    1. Wear the right protection- Detroit Sponge offers a variety of items that can help prevent the spread of diseases.
    • Shoe covers- We offer disposable and reusable shoe covers. They look professional and your clients will be impressed when you slip them on prior to entering their homes. This is really up to your preference on the job. Our reusable shoe covers have gained a lot of attraction, they are durable and washable. Pro Shoe Covers are constructed with a premium nylon material. This same material is used to manufacture such items as luggage, tarps, and backpacks. Disposable shoe covers are convenient on the job and remain popular.
    • Face masks- Disposable facemasks can help prevent you spreading germs through saliva as well as getting a virus from others. We sell a pack of 50 disposable masks for your convenience.
    • Gloves- Most people think of warm gloves while working outside in the winter, but gloves while working inside are equally as important. While touching surfaces and items in homes or businesses, it can be easy to pick up germs. Disposable gloves are nice to remove and dispose of at the end of a job.
    1. Be on guard- Be attentive to if you are showing symptoms. It is not worth working though illness in the winter seasons. This can make sickness worse and infect others. We sell an easy digital thermometer to check your temperature and co-workers and employees. Checking the crew’s temperature in the morning is a good practice to make sure sicknesses are not being overlooked. Ask those who are under the weather to take the day off until they are recovered. Last, be aware of customers. It may be smart to ask customers to let you know if anyone is sick or ask them to reschedule.

We hope you have a safe and healthy winter work season. For questions about the items mentioned or window cleaning, do not hesitate to reach out.
