Oh my goodness, this was driving me crazy every December! What finally worked was giving my kids access to their own countdown so they could check it themselves without asking me fifty times a day. I showed them this Days until Christmas calculator and now they check it every morning as part of their routine. It's actually become a nice ritual - they check the number together, update their handmade countdown chain, and talk about what they're excited about. The tool breaks it down into weeks and days which helps them understand the passage of time better than just saying "in a few weeks." As a bonus, it's reduced the whining because they can see the progress themselves rather than relying on me to tell them. I also use it for my own planning - when it hits 60 days, I start my shopping list; at 30 days, shopping should be mostly done; at 14 days, everything needs to be wrapped. Having that objective countdown helps me pace myself and avoid the last-minute Christmas Eve panic shopping that I used to do every year. The kids love it, I'm less stressed, everybody wins!
