Would manual screw piles be a good option for that?

Hi there! I’ve got a question about installing foundations near trees. I want to put up a small wooden structure, but I don’t want to damage the roots. Would manual screw piles be a good option for that?

Hi! That’s actually one of the best use cases for manual screw piles. I came across an article on Foundation Works https://foundationworkspiles.blogspot.com/2025/07/why-choose-manual-screw-piles.html that talks about exactly this situation. Because manual screw piles don’t require heavy digging or big equipment, they’re perfect for areas with vegetation you want to protect. The handheld screwpile driver allows for precise control, so you can install each pile carefully without disturbing nearby roots. Foundation Works highlights that this method works great in tree-dense areas, courtyards, or other sensitive spots where excavation would be too invasive. They also point out that the lightweight tools still generate strong torque, giving you the same structural reliability as conventional installations. So yes — if preserving your landscape is a priority, manual screw piles from the Foundation Works approach are definitely the way to go.
