How many windows can you wash until your rag is too damp to use? I had a job that had 20 7' windows and 3 doors, and by the time i was done I had used about 3 detail rags, almost using a 4th. The reason I ask this is because I was watching an Unger tutorial video and they said a good window cleaning only uses about 2 rags in a day. Am I not using the right technique or is possibly just the type of rags I'm using?

I don't know anyone that uses 2 rags a day. I might use 4 or 5 max on a job like that but I know a lot of guys who would go through way more. Depends on what kind of detailing job you are doing. If you didn't wipe down the edges after cleaning the windows I could see 2 rags I suppose. I also see less repeat customers too but that's how it goes with sub par work.

It depends on how many windows and doors are washing. I prefer 4 rags for always. Before dealing the job, discuss properly. It will be Ok, i think.

I think you should try 4 rags for general purpose. After discussion you can get the estimation of work, then you will understand what you need.

I'll probably just use 2-3 rags on an average job. But my rags are a big heavy cotton rag for the slop and my 3' long scrim for the detailing. The big rag is like half of a super absorbant bath towell. If I'm doing window tracks though I'll use a few terry towels just on those.

I would probably say 3-4 on average per job. I have heard good things about the scrim though, I guess I will have to get one.

Well it depends on the size of job you're doing, obviously. For the job you were doing I would have probably used about four to five rags. There's not much philosophy here, you just keep on using the same rag until it can no longer absorb enough water.
