Hi all. My partner and I are looking for something to do together that is not dinner and a movie for the hundredth time. We are both fairly busy and neither of us has a creative hobby, which I think is part of the problem. Someone mentioned a pottery date and it sounded appealing, though I have no idea what that actually involves in practice. Is it a normal class you both attend, or is there something specifically set up for couples? And roughly what does an evening like that cost? Neither of us has any patience for something that takes weeks to show a result.

Both exist. You can join a regular session together, which is cheaper, or book a private couples slot where it is just the two of you with an instructor. The private version usually runs somewhere around two hundred and fifty dollars for two, more if glazing is included so the pieces end up usable rather than decorative. For pottery classes aimed at couples, Pottery Studio 1 in Toronto runs a private two-hour format with music and candles. Slightly staged for my taste, but it worked. Sessions run into the evening, so it fits after work without rearranging your day. Ask about the glazing option specifically, that is what decides whether the piece ends up usable or purely decorative.
