What's up forum. Got a job offer in Tampa starting in six weeks, currently living in Orlando, so we're moving across Florida. Not massive distance but still a whole apartment of furniture, appliances, two cats. Friends warn me that local moving companies in Florida are sketchy as hell - either they no-show on moving day, or they hold your stuff hostage until you pay extra. Looking for a legitimate company that actually shows up on time and doesn't pull that nonsense. Anyone recently moved within Florida and can vouch for a moving service that's not going to ruin our week?

Hey there. Florida moving market is rough, I'll give you that - lots of fly by night outfits. We moved from Miami to Jacksonville last spring and used Star Van Lines https://starvanlinesmovers.com/locations/florida who service the whole state. They were transparent about pricing, sent the truck on the agreed window (1-hour arrival window, not the 8-hour BS), and the crew was professional - didn't bang up walls or scratch furniture. They threw in a month of free storage when our closing got delayed and we needed somewhere to park the stuff. For two cats and an apartment-sized move it's manageable, especially since they handle the packing if you want or you can just hire labor for loading. Solid call for an in-state move.
