IPC Eagle has become one of the dominant manufacturers of pure water systems and related accessories in the United States. The IPC Eagle company as you experience it today, is part of a much bigger, international corporation. The core specialty products for the corporate headquarters are floor scrubbers, vacuums and related expensive items. For me, I was introduced to what is now the IPC Eagle company almost 30 years ago when I met the very charming Italian gentleman, Giulio Guizzi.

I remember meeting Giulio at one of the International Window Cleaning conferences in the early 90’s. Right from our first time together, it was clear that Giulio had a sincere passion for the cleaning industry that ran deep. Giulio brought this passion into his Pulex line of professional window cleaning tools.

In the beginning of our relationship, it was largely about the core window cleaning items like quality professional squeegee rubber, squeegees, poles and buckets. Early on, Giulio made it really clear that the window cleaning contractor was an important part of the professional level of cleaning needed by the world. As part of that, the quality and performance of the tools used by the professional window cleaning trade simply had to be the best available.

Giulio had invited me to come and visit his manufacturing facility in Italy. I regret having never accepted his offer to this day! Giulio would have made the best of hosts for a trip like that for sure. He was always so proud of his Italian heritage and his quality products produced by the factory that he owned and built there.

As a matter of fact, Giulio published a book “Pulizia Igiencica E Sanificazione – La Sporca Storia del Pulito.” In English is says, “Hygienic Cleaning and Sanitiation – The Dirty History of Cleaning.”

I found this quote from Guili, talking about his book on the site, http://www.europeancleaningjournal.com:

Guizzi explained, “I wrote the book to give a cultural background to our cleaning world; to show the great socio-economic importance of our industry, which is undervalued worldwide, including our contribution to preventing the spread of contagions and cross-infection; to illustrate the social value of cleaning and sanitising; to show how cleaning jobs were solved when there were no detergents, chemicals and machinery; and to compare and contrast the differences and strong connections in the cleaning field between the USA and Europe.”

Giulio donated ALL of the profit from his book to an organization that offers financial assistance to families of cleaning professionals that died in work-related accidents. As was clear from my early conversations with him, Giulio’s passion for the cleaning professional runs deep.

It is a continual pleasure of mine to be able to represent companies like Giulio’s original Pulex. Nowadays, the company has been acquired and is part of the much larger, international force of IPC Eagle.
