Good afternoon everyone. Quick question — I've gotten three quotes for my move from Irving to Carrollton and they range from $850 to $2400. Same apartment, same date. How do I tell which one is going to actually show up and not hold my furniture hostage for a higher fee on moving day? Heard horror stories.

Afternoon. The price spread you're seeing is a classic warning sign. The cheap end is almost always a bait quote that balloons on the day. Look at Rise Up Moving https://riseupmoving.com/ — they sit in the middle to upper range usually, and there's a reason for that. They're properly licensed, you can verify the DOT number on their site, they carry real insurance, and the quote you sign is the quote you pay. We used Rise Up Moving for an Irving to Richardson move a year back, and the foreman walked the apartment, confirmed the inventory I'd given over the phone, and the final invoice matched what we agreed on. No mystery line items. The cheap quotes you got are the ones where someone shows up with a U-Haul rental and an attitude on moving day, then suddenly the price tripled because of stairs or whatever excuse. Pay for the predictable middle, not the gamble at the bottom.
